Getting closer to being ready to go. The VIP room is ready for Marie and installation of Auto Pilot started today and should be finished tomorrow. Refrigerator isn’t cooling properly and repair man will be here tomorrow. The satellite TV and rear camera will be installed Thursday and Friday. Due to technical complications the training of driving the boat was interrupted while the house battery was replaced yesterday. The training captain will be back on the 18th or 19th to finish the training, weather permitting, and if that goes as planned than Marie and I will head out for Marco Island about the 20th and then onto the Keys.
As you can see from the photos above the official name was installed last Saturday.
There is some minor reorganizing need in the kitchen and I’m hoping to enlist Marie’s help during slack time to accomplish this task. I still have too much stuff on board and have a lot to learn about living in small spaces. Fortunately my neighbor from my house in Texas is buying my truck and is flying in on Sunday to drive it home and I’m planning on sending some stuff back for storage.
This is the furthest i have ever been from my kids and grandkids and I miss them dearly. I’ll try to figure out some way to fly home once in a while.
I have come to the conclusion that I will probably not be able to run the boat without at least one crew member because of the type of yacht and size. That being said I will offer boat rides to anyone who wants to come as the opportunity arises. Marie is planning on heading home around February 5th which will leave an opening until May 1st at which time Pat will be joining me at the Chesapeake. The tentative plan for the east coast is to hopefully see a launch at Cape Canaveral, check out Savanna Georgia and play golf for a week at Myrtle Beach and whatever else may arise. So anyone wanting to join me will need to reply with their available dates and I will respond.
That’s all for now,
Living the Dream in Florida.
Glad to hear all is well. I sure understand about you missing the kids, and grandchildren.
You will be able to sign me aboard as your private Gilligan at some point soon I am sure. Just need to work out details.
Hope the maiden voyage goes well. Hope Marie makes a good first mate.
Keep the updates coming!
Hi, Bruce! Really excited to catch up on your adventure via the blog. Great stuff. Wanted to see when I can fly out to meet you for a week or two…sounds like you have a few months with not a lot of help from a ‘crew’…would love to help out and spend some time with you on the boat! My schedule is pretty flexible, so please let me know what works best and we’ll hammer out some plans. Cheers!

Geoff, I would love for you to crew with me for two or three weeks if you can. not sure yet when I’ll need help, probably up in the great lakes. Meredith has also offered to crew but not sure yet what i’ll need. Marie is joining me from Feb 8th for about 3 weeks down to the keys and up to Miami. my brother Tom may join me up east coast to myrtle Beach for some golf and Pat is joining me in the Chesapeake Bay for a month. after that I’m not sure who will help me, so we’ll keep in touch.
